4th February 2020

The Year 5/6 mixed netball team played their next match against Moorlands Primary School in the BANES Netball Cup League. We were in front for the majority of the match, but were pipped to the post in the final minute. An excellent game, well done Chew Stoke. The final score was 6-7 to Moorlands. 

3rd February 2020

The school has been notified that it has been successful in achieving the silver Modeshift Stars Award. Modeshift Stars is a national awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that demonstrate excellence in supporting sustainable and active travel in order to improve the health and well being of children. We are only the third school in BANES to be given the award. A huge congratulations to the whole school community who have supported the application, but particularly the PE Council and Miss Hennessy who have coordinated events and the paperwork. Well done Chew Stoke!

28th January 2020

Congratulations to our Year 5 Gymnastics Team who took part in the BANES Year 5/6 Gymnastics Tournament at Baskervilles in Bath. The team came sixth overall; the first time we've made the podium. What a result! The girls put in lots pf hard work to practise their routines and its really paid off. Well done!

22nd January 2020

8 children from years 5 and 6 took part in the BANES Badminton Tournament at Wellsway School in Keynsham. We entered two teams, both enjoyed taking part in 5 mixed double pool games and then play offs for ranking. We are extremely pleased to announce that Chew Stoke A came first overall out of 12 teams. An amazing achievement. All the pairs encouraged each other and the rest of their team. They communicated well and demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout. Well done to all the children who took part.

9th January 2020 

A huge well done to the Year 5/6 pupils who took part in the BANES Sports Hall Athletics Competition at Wellsway School. They came 4th overall, a great result!

13th November 2019

The boys football team played in the BANES Boys Football Tournament. After playing their pool matches they went through to the plate play offs where they won their quarter final, semi final and are now crowned 2019 champions! Well done boys!

11th November 2019

The Girls Football Team took part in the BANES Girls Football Cup against a Chandag Junior School in Keynsham. It sadly wasn't a win on this occasion, but the girls put everything into their performance and we are so proud of their efforts, well done!

6th November 2019

Our girls football team took part in their first football tournament. They played in the BANES Girls Football Tournament at Odd Down Playing Fields in Bath with 15 other schools. After two wins and a draw the girls came joint first in their pool, going on to take part in the quarter finals of the cup division. It was here that we were unfortunately knocked out. We are so proud of the girls and their achievement. This was a very new team last year and this result is a testament to their hard work in training. Fab result!

24th October 2019

A huge congratulations to the girls netball team who played in the BANES Netball Tournament at Wellsway School. The girls won their pool matches and moved on to play in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd play offs. Unfortunately we didn't win these matches, however we came 3rd overall. The best result ever in this competition. Well done girls, we are very proud of you!

22nd October 2019

Our mixed netball team got off to a flying start in the BANES Knock Out Cup. They travelled to Bath to play St Mary's Catholic Primary School and won 7-2. A fantastic score and great play from the whole team. 

17th October 2019

More sporting success as our boys football team played their first game in the BANES knock out Football Tournament. We played against Newbridge Primary School near Bath. The game was so close. The final score was 1-1, but even after extra time neither team could score. The match went to penalties and we won! A great game, well done everyone. 

15th October 2019

Today was the first football tournament of the season, which took place at Pensford Playing Fields. A mixed team of Year 5/6 pupils played 4 matches throughout the afternoon. 

Our results were as follows:

Chew Stoke v Cameley 6-0

Winford (B) v Chew Stoke 0-1

Pensford v Chew Stoke 1-0

Chew Stoke v Winford (A) 0-1

Our final two matches were so incredibly nail biting. We are extremely proud of the effort put in by each player. They all represented the school so well.

15th October 2019

The school has been awarded the Bronze Modeshift Stars Award. This award is a national scheme which promotes the use of sustainable travel. A big thank you goes out to the PE Council and Miss Hennessy for the fun activities and competitions which were run last year and for coordinating the paperwork involved in us getting to this point. Congratulations Chew Stoke!


9th October 2019

A huge congratulations to the Year 5/6 children who despite the torrential rain took part in the BANES Cross Country Tournament this afternoon. All the children did exceptionally well and a special shout out goes to Joshua who came first in his race! A big thank you also to the parents who came and supported. 

On the 25th September Badger Class took part in the Chew Valley Cluster Tag Rugby Tournament at Chew Valley Secondary School. The class were split into three divisions for the event and the results were as follows:

Division 1 team - First place

Division 2 team - First place

Division 3 team - Second place

What an amazing result! Well done to the whole class for their efforts and great sportsmanship. 


KS2 Chew Valley Cluster Cross Country Event - September 2019

The team results were as follows:

Year 3/4 Girls - 2nd

Year 5/6 Girls - 3rd

Year 3/4 Boys - 1st

Year 5/6 Boys - 1st

We also had some individual successes as one of our runners came 3rd in the Year 3/4 category and we had a 1st and 3rd place runner in the Year 5/6 category. Congratulations to all who took part!
